Medical assistants (MAs) are an integral part of the healthcare team. They provide vital support to providers and other care team members as well as perform clinical and administrative functions under direct supervision. MAs also act as a liaison to patients providing information, support and links to community resources. MAs are knowledgeable and skilled in a wide range of areas and are essential to healthcare today as well as the future.
MaineHealth and its member organizations are committed to providing MAs with training to help prepare them for success in the practice setting. The goal of this two-day training is for all MAs to:
This training is required for all newly hired MAs and available to experienced MAs on a module by module basis. The standardized curriculum consists of nine modules along with knowledge and skills assessments.
