COPD Updates for Primary Care Providers
A Component of COPD Assist

Primary care providers see firsthand the impact that COPD has on patients and their families.  Delivering care, in accordance with clinical guidelines, is one of the best ways providers can support patients with a chronic condition.

The Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) recently published recommendations for the management of COPD entitled Global Strategy for the Diagnosis, Management, and Prevention of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease - 2017 Report.

Dr. Joel Wirth, Director of Pulmonary Critical Medicine at Maine Medical Center and a Pulmonologist at Chest Medicine Associates, collaborated with primary care providers from around the system to identify the components of GOLD recommendations. This module provides a discussion of these key components.

The Funding for the creation of this module and other COPD Assist materials was provided by a 2017 Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Quality Grant.

The module is grouped into three videos. The videos may be viewed together or separately. Knowledge assessments are located at the conclusion of each video and successful completion of all three of these assessments will be required to earn 1 CME.
